There has probably been a time in the past year or so where you have walked into a club and heard "Patron on Ice" in about every hip-hop track played by the DJ. Chances are, one of those songs was T.I's Whatever you like. Anya Marina has thrown an interesting acoustic twist on this gangster fresh song (I lied, it really isn't that gangster fresh at all).
In other news! Me and my friend Kate will be recording our first episode of Dancing Strudel Radio, which i will provide the link for once it is up.
In the meantime though, check out my other buddies blog, who also hosts a radio show at UNF at Freezer Jams

Splendid Weather

Today I came across two new tracks from a band, whom I've been very into since they first were adding friends on myspace back in 2006. The Band is Rue Royale, made up Husband and Wife duo Brookln and Ruth Dekker. I have had the pleasure of seeing them twice in their founding town of chicago at both the Beat Kitchen and my personal favorite venue ( not just because i worked for them) Schubas Tavern. Brookln and Ruth have a beautiful sound to their voices as they combine highs and lows of their vocals and their light sounding songs. The band started with just the two of them, an acoustic guitar, a single bass drum and some shakers. And occasionally if your lucky, you can see them playing with friends of theirs who may provide piano parts to the songs, and sometimes even a drumset. This small assortment of instruments creates a beautiful experience for the listener though that definitely makes one recognize this band out of the rest. Sadly though for us chicagoans, They left chicago to explore new musical horizons in the EU. Although they have gone to another continent, their music will forever stay with their fans, who will follow them throughout their journey.
With that....
I give you the two free tracks they have posted for the winter. Be sure to check out their myspace, and if you happen to be in Europe, check out their tour!

just would like to mention

Although this is un-music related, I just finished watching an amazing B&W french film titled Le Petit Soldat, and all I have to say is that Anna Karina is one of the most beautiful actresses I have ever seen in my life.

Me at the Valentines Day Party, Pre-Computer Accident

It's tuesday! And in the music world that means NEW ALBUMS!!!! Thanks to The Blisslist I have discovered that today Metric has released a acoustic album titled Plug In Plug Ou featuring some awesome songs from their most recent album Fantasies. Yet, unfortunately I have found out today that I am low on funds! Sooo, I must save every penny! (Ok maybe not EVERY PENNY). I definitely recommend going to check out that album though.
In other news though, due to me not blogging so much I completely forgot to mention that on October 13th, Land of Talk released their new EP titled Fun and Laughter. The songs in the new EP are a little more down tempo then those in their past album Some are Lakes, but lead singer Eliabeth Powell's voice is equally awesome. It contains 4 songs and even 3 videos I believe? I received the album in the mail, but I cannot put it in my disk drive or it will eat the CD alive. Why may it eat my cd's you ask? I DJ'd a Valentines Day party at my friends apartment and someone bumped into the table with my computer on it, proceeding to having their drink flying in the air, which then led to my computer being covered in some fruity type of alcoholic beverage.... not a happy night. Luckily! my less than a year old Macbook Pro, still holds well to this day, and works fine...minus the disk drive....
So enough of my talk, go out and enjoy this new track from Land of Talk titled "May You Never"

What a strange weekend

If I were to tell you what happened this weekend, you would be shocked with amazement, grief and horror. Kind of like a movie isn't it? Anyhow, I did, like everyone else in the country...see paranormal activity this past weekend and it was quite a disappointment. I will not give away the ending but It does leave you in that stuper state which makes you think "Wow, was that really it". Kind of the same way the Blaire Witch Project left me. Anyhow, I am still investigating into ways to load songs so you may listen to them through the site but in the mean time, you will just have to listen to them on a separate site! Although this track may be an odd mix of old school meets a newer, middle aged teenage girl....school...It's still quite a awesome track that I'm sure will be a hit in the clubs soon enough! Thus I present you with a awesome mix with Notorious B.I.G. and our favorite american teen Miley Cyrus titled Party and Bullshit in the USA remixed by Hathbanger.

PS: I'm going to work on posting more! The past two weeks have just been killer!

Found it!!!

So after a extended search to find this single track, I have finally found it! Darkstar's cover of Radiohead's "Videotape". It's eerie in a way but a beautiful song none the less in both the original and this cover. Also to mix things up a bit genre wise. I have been informed of a great singer/songwriter that likes to go by the name of Destroyer. His songs are perfect for when you are spending time with that special someone.

Enjoy!!!

Possibly The Best Soundtrack Of The Year

I know it's been a little while since I last posted, unfortunately it is a financial issue to upload music unless I find it through other sources. Anyways! The New Moon Soundtrack has been leaked! The Music Myspace for the soundtrack allows you to listen to the full length tracks of the FULL LENGTH SOUNDTRACK! A couple weeks back I heard about the line up for the soundtrack and it has not let me down, especially with artists like Thom Yorke, Death Cab For Cutie, St. Vincent, Bon Iver, Lykke Li, Grizzly Bear, and many others on the album. They truly put together quite an amazing soundtrack. Personally, the only soundtrack which i promptly bought this year after leaving the theater for a movie would have to be 500 Days Of Summer which I still, am avidly listening to while I drive around. All the songs in the New Moon soundtrack seem to have been created particularly for the film, making this a album a must have when it releases in stores on I believe October 20th (I could be wrong). In the meantime though, enjoy a couple of tracks from the album and check out the link for the full album!

So it's been a couple of days

I've been working out the issue with finding a direct upload mp3 site to only find that i need to get an account! and pay! Well anyways, the past couple of days have been great in finding some new/old music scattered across the wall. Today in the car my friend (and other host of our radio show The Dancing Strudel Blog Radio on Osprey radio) Kate, who brought to my attention a band called Teddy Bear Stockholm. They produce a very interestin sound that is a pleasure to my ears (like a good dance tune!) which unfortunately i can't find a link to it! In the meantime though, i leave you with a track that has been all over the internet lately. Vampire Weekend's "Horchata"

And the Ship sets sail!

Hello World!
Today is the beginning of a whole new blog for the parisian goldfish. Previously I was on tumblr, but I find blogspot to be more suitable for everything. Anyways, I hope that all the readers of this blog will enjoy the music that is put on here.
In the past week, like every other week, I find new music in which I just can't stop listening to it. Here is a couple of tracks from the past couple of days.
